It’s Monday morning, the sun is shining, you have packed your child’s backpack with a snack, water bottle, lunch, hat, sun cream, bug repellent and you are on your way to one of Sport4Kids holiday camps with your child, who may be feeling a mixture of nervous and anxious (this is often how parents feel as well) but don’t worry, our professional and friendly staff will make those feelings disappear when you arrive.
9am – Arrival
You arrive and are greeted by a smiling member of the Sport4Kids team, who straight away makes a big deal of your child joining our camp, introducing themselves, asking their name, how old they are, gives them a big high five and shows you where to sign in; this really helps in easing both your nerves. On the table there are a couple of sheets of paper with the list of names for all the children, who will also be taking part in the camp this week, you find your child’s name, check the details are correct and sign them in. The camp leader gives your child a Sport4Kids holiday camp t-shirt to test for size (if it doesn’t fit, feel free to ask for a different size), you put it on them and they go sit with the other children in their group, each age group will have a different color t-shirt and team name for the week, which makes it easy for coaches to identify groups but also makes the children feel part of a team.
9:15 am – Let’s Get Started!
The group is led off to their first activity, some parents leave whilst a couple stay around to watch, some parents choose to watch the start just to make sure their child is settled. At Sport4Kids we understand this can make it easier for a parent and is completely up to you. Your child is straight away involved with the activities led by their coach so you decide to head home knowing they are in good hands and about to have a great day.
After an hour they have learned new skills, taken part in a range of drills and completed challenges which brings the session to an end. All the children head over to have their snack and drink, the coaches instruct everyone to wash their hands before having their snack, sit down while eating and remind them to not eat their lunch yet!!
10:30 am – Back To Sports!
With the snack break finished, it’s now time for the next activity, the coach explains the rules, breaks down the basics and ensures everyone can take part which means that by the end of the hour everyone has made improvements and have built up an appetite ready for lunch.
12pm – It’s Lunch Time!
Children go off to wash their hands, the coaches remind them of the rules for lunchtime and sit down to join the children to eat their lunch. It’s very important to pack healthy snacks for children with not too much sugar.
12:30pm – Fun and Games
Following lunch, the groups head back to their designated area to take part in the next activity, which will be their last full sports session of the day. After an hour of activity, everyone is ready for a drink and their second healthy snack.
The last section after their snack is Fun Games which is a 30 minute, this is an opportunity for children to play games and activities which do not have a specific sport focus but assist in developing skills such as teamwork, confidence, and problem-solving, all skills which can improve a child’s performance both in sport but also school.
1:45pm – Home Sweet Home 🙂
You arrive to pick your child up, you sign them out and collect them from the coach who tells you what a superstar they have been today, gives them a high five and tells them they are looking forward to seeing them tomorrow. As you leave you to ask your child how was their day and they can’t wait to tell you about the fun they have had and all the things they have done and learned; and how they are already looking forward to tomorrows camp. As a parent this is exactly the reaction you want to see when you collect them, they have had the opportunity to experience new sports and activities, meet new friends, improve their confidence and most importantly have FUN!
